What is Dysport®?

Dysport ® is an injectable product designed to help with wrinkles caused by muscle contractions, such as frown lines and wrinkles on the forehead. By relaxing the muscles, Dysport® may help reduce these types of wrinkles.

What Should I Expect from a Dysport® Treatment?

Dysport® is administered via injections into the muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and eye area. A series of injections is made just above the eyebrows and between the eyes. Most patients remain comfortable during the treatment. The procedure takes 15 to 30 minutes

After the treatment, the wrinkles may be less visible. Full results can take several days. For the first 24 to 48 hours, you may notice some very mild bleeding, bruising, tenderness and swelling at the points where the needle was inserted into the skin.

How Long Do the Results Last?

Individual results vary, but most people enjoy the anti-aging benefits of Dysport® treatments for four to six months. A follow-up treatment at four months is typically recommended.

Dr. John Barbour combines the benefits of excellent surgical training with a caring and thoughtful approach to his patients. He previously served as the Director of the Peripheral Nerve Surgery Institute at Georgetown University Hospital and as an Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery, and earned an adjunct appointment as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Barbour is a triple board-certified plastic surgeon serving the national capital/Washington, DC area. Dr. Barbour is board-certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery with additional sub-certification in surgery of the hand. He has specialized fellowship training in both hand surgery and microvascular surgery, and specializes in complex nerve surgery, breast reconstruction and microsurgery.
