What Should I Expect from Hand Rejuvenation?
The technique for using fat grafts for hand rejuvenation involves two steps. First, liposuction is used to take fat from an area of the body, such as the thighs. Small incisions are made in the area, and a small tube is inserted through the opening. The cannula is used to dislodge fat and suction it out of the body.
The second step involves purifying the fat and injecting it into the hands. Dr. Barbour uses several injection sites to sculpt the back of the hands.
Your hands may feel stiff and sore for a few days after the fat transfer and injections. You may also notice some pinpoint bleeding at each site where the needle was inserted.
How Long Do the Results Last?
Fat grafting is a long-lasting method for hand rejuvenation. If some of the fat cells are absorbed by the body, Dr. Barbour will perform a touch-up treatment, usually less extensive than the first procedure.
