I came to see Dr. Barbour on recommendation from a friend, I am so glad did! I had started to notice fine lines on my forehead but was nervous about getting Botox for the first time. Dr. Barbour talked me through the whole process, took his time and answered all my questions and made me completely comfortable with the procedure. My forehead is SO smooth now, it looks amazing! Will definitely be recommending him!

When I met with Dr. Barbour he diagnosed, thanks to the X-Ray, that I did not have a broken finger, and that we could treat my finger that had a torn tendon, with a splint, in lieu of surgery. This was a great relief to me, as I am a very active senior. I was very impressed with his calm, thoughtful, and professional demeanor, as I am somebody who asks a lot of questions.
Bottom line—I returned for my 3 week follow up and the “droop” in my finger has been almost entirely eliminated, and I will be able to return to basketball soon. If you have a finger or any sort of hand injury, I can confidently and wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Barbour as your doctor.

I went to Dr. Barbour on the recommendation of my daughter-in-law for a “mallet finger” incurred while playing basketball. I was concerned, since my ring finger was “drooping” at the top knuckle, that finger surgery was imminent. I called and first spoke to Jacqueline, the office manager, who was beyond helpful, calling me back with a script for an X-Ray before my first appointment with Dr. Barbour-and she did this after office hours!

Dr. Barbour is great! His office staff got me in same day, and he spent a lot of time with me – very professional, confident, and capable. He basically performed a minor surgery on my smashed thumb like it was no big deal. And he took my insurance (United Healthcare), which made things very easy for me. I definitely recommend Dr. Barbour!

Very calm and knowledgeable and made me at ease. Also very humble. I would definitely getting his opinion if you have a nerve injury. His bedside manner gave me reason for hope.

Dr Barbour came to the ED to put stitches in our son after an accident. He was very friendly and very patient and the entire experience was smooth. The ER nurses said he’s their favorite doctor. Most ERs probably don’t let you request any doctor you want, but any parent or patient would be lucky if Dr Barbour is available to help.

Dr Barbour spent probably an hour with me the first time I went to see him. He let me tell him my entire story (unlike other doctors) and he understood my pain and frustration. As someone who had been to so many doctors over so many years, I can tell you he is VERY different. He listens. He understands. And makes you feel like a person (not just another blip on their schedule). I’ve seen him for 4 months now and he always remembers me. He knows my problem (which other doctors ignored for years) and he always gives me a hug when he leaves the room. I’m feeling great after the surgery, but more importantly I feel like a human again. People in pain need more compassion, and he delivered it for me.

I had a surgery done for an amputation revision and Dr. Barbour did a really good job. He made sure I had everything I needed after the surgery. He was extremely knowledgeable. He really did change my life. I desperately needed a good surgeon.

Dr John Barbour was the doctor who finally helped my leg get better. He operated at the best hospital (Fairfax) and took away the pain after my hip replacement. My nerve had been caught in the scar and no one could help me but him. I am back to walking and am off the pain medication. Find him if you have chronic nerve pain.

Dr Barbour is amazing. I can honestly say he changed my life. He is a true expert in nerve problems and I am finally getting better after my nerve pain was fixed. He refused to accept credit that he is the best, because he is such a humble man, but I know he is amazing. I cannot possibly say enough good things about him.

Dr. Barbour did everything he said he would do. I’ve had his surgery looked at by other professionals in this field and they give 2 thumbs up! I even traveled about 3 hours to see Dr. Barbour and he did everything he could do to help me right from the comfort of my living room after the surgery. I seriously thank the Lord for Dr. Barbour he helped me when others turned me away saying the surgery was too difficult for them.

Dr Barbour saw my father for his amputation pain several times in his office. He was very nice and eventually told my father he needed surgery to take out the nerve pain and adjust his amputation bone cut. He was right. After the surgery my father has been happier and feeling better than ever before. He went through 2 years of pain, and now it’s gone. We are so glad he was able to help

Dr Barbour was the doctor my therapist and my prosthetist told me to go see for my amputation pain. I was told for years that my pain would never go away. He saw me in his office and explained why he thought I was having phantom pain and why he thought another surgery would make it better. I was scared but we went through with it and I am so relieved now. I do not have the same pain I had before surgery, and I can sleep and use my leg brace now, which I could never do before. I have told my prosthetist and every amputee I know that there is a possible cure for their pains. He was so nice and he changed my life.

I was referred to this office (and Dr Barbour in particular) for my headache pain. I was scared of getting made worse from something like surgery, and I told that to Dr Barbour from the beginning. He was very understanding. He was also very educated in the ways that nerves work and sometimes cause problems. He explained things in a way that made perfect sense, and he made sure I understood what he was saying after each explantation. That was very different than the other doctors I have seen. After 20-30 minutes of him explaining things, I trusted he knew what he was talking about and I believed his suggestions could help me. I have had a better experience with him than any other doctor for my condition, and I feel I need to express that. He is a natural calming doctor. And he treats people like they are his friends/family. To come from a doctor, much less a SURGEON, that is really rare (in my experience). I had nerve decompression and I feel better than I have in years. Please find him if you have pain. He might be able to help.

I saw Dr Barbour for my chronic leg pain after a hip surgery. I was told there was nothing to do to help me by many doctors but my physical therapist recommended I see a plastic surgeon who specialized in nerve repair. Dr Barbour was amazing. Very nice and very understanding of my pain. And he knew EXACTLY what my pain was caused by. And he apologized that it wasn’t fixed sooner. I have hugged him every time I see him, but it will never be enough. He helped me (and my family) when everyone else sent me away. Please find him if you have nerve pain after surgery.

Absolutely excellent treatment! My mom has had severe ongoing nerve pain from post-hepatic neuralgia in her trigeminal nerve from shingles for ten years now. Over time she has been prescribed a multitude of different medications that would help for a short period of time and eventually stop working, leaving her in more pain each time. She’s had many different injections which would bring temporary relief or make the pain even worse. We got a recommendation to see Dr John Barbour. He took the time to talk with us and was very enthusiastic and encouraging. He had a different solution that seemed to be a permanent fix through a small surgical procedure. My mom is doing amazing. The nerve pain seems to be gone. Dr John Barbour was amazing, always available and a true life saver!!

This doctor was able to fix my horrible nerve pain to my right hand. He cut out scar tissue and moved the nerve to keep the pain from coming back. I had been told there was nothing that could be done and I am so thankful that he didn’t give up on me. I had been in pain for 5 years and now I am off all the medicines and can use my hand without pain.

Dr Barbour is a very humble man. He cared for me more than any previous doctor I was referred to. He is very understanding. and listens to what patients say. I was very impressed by his ability to figure out my problem and try to find a way to help me. Most other doctors I have seen have just pushed me aside. Dr Barbour seemed to take the time to figure out my pain and suggest a new solution. And cutting out my nerve worked! He helped me more than anyone else has in the last seven years.

Dr Barbour was the fourth doctor called by the ER on a weekend, but the first that was was willing to help my child. He came the the ER on a Saturday night to put stitches in my son’s forehead and was so nice and professional. I found out later he left a family event to come help my son! The cut looks amazing and he was so patient with our child, I think he is the nicest and best plastic surgeon ever.

I am writing this review about Dr John Barbour and his staff. They took excellent care of me and I am very grateful for all he did to help my situation. It took us four doctors to finally find one who listened to my problems and could possibly help. Every other doctor was not interested or didn’t know how to help me. Dr Barbour finally was able to tell me it was a nerve problem and surgery would help me. He was right, and after surgery my pain is almost gone. His nurses and team were very helpful and always available. I have told so many people about him!!

The first time I met Dr Barbour, I was impressed by his professional nature and the time spent with me. I had been injured in an accident and he explained explained everything he was thinking and his recommendations all made sense. Few other doctors take the time to make sure you understand what they’re thinking. I fee much better after surgery, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone with nerve damage.

I love this man. Dr John Barbour spent a very long time asking about my story and completely made me feel at ease. He clearly listened to what I had to say and obviously cares a lot about me as a person. As a patient who has seen over 15 doctors in 3 years for a lot of issues, his bed-side manner is at the top of the list. He even drew me pictures of what he planned to do to help my pain. I’ve told everyone I know about what he has done to help me. He’s pretty good-looking, too.

Dr Barbour is a God-send. I had suffered with pain for years until I was referred to his office. He operated and found damage to my nerves that would have never gotten better without his help. He explained everything and answered all my questions, which made me feel very comfortable with the idea he could help me. I am so glad I continued to seek treatment, as other doctors had told me there was nothing that could be done. Now I have no pain and can go on with my life. Dr Barbour is awesome! He is a fantastic and compassionate physician. Spent a lot of time explaining my problem and the possible options. I feel like he really listened and cared about my injury. He was the first doctor I have seen that has understood my condition and definitely cared about doing the right thing. Very accommodating and planned surgery around my schedule.
